PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve production efficiency and to simplify work by automating a process of applying a protective layer forming material and to make the quality of a formed peelable protective layer uniform. SOLUTION: A first station 16 including first to fourth robots 20a to 20d and a second station 18 including fifth to eighth robots 20e to 20h are disposed near a conveyance line 12. Jet mechanisms 46 and roller application mechanisms 90 for jetting the protective layer forming material are respectively installed at the tips of respective third arms 44 of the first to fourth robots 20a to 20d and the fifth to eighth robots 20e to 20h. The protective layer forming material composed of an acrylic-based copolymer agent acting as the peelable protective layer after drying is applied to the central part of an automobile body 14 under the working of the jet mechanisms 46 and is further applied at the end of the automobile body 14 under the working of the roller application mechanisms 90 at the second station 18.
