An electrophoretic display apparatus or a ferroelectric liquid crystal display apparatus includes a display panel 10 including gate line electrodes 33 and source line electrodes 34 arranged in a matrix to provide a multiplicity of pixels at respective intersections of these electrodes, a gate line drive circuit 213 for driving the gate line electrodes 33, and a source line drive circuit 212 for driving the source line electrodes 34.
