PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red bulb for a vehicular lamp having excellent properties regarding all of luminous flux, chromaticity and heat resistance, and also having a good appearance in its non-lighting time by forming a red coating film on the outside surface of a glass bulb. SOLUTION: This red bulb for a vehicular lamp is composed by forming the red coating film 38 containing iron oxide as a red pigment on the outside surface of the glass bulb 30C1 with filaments 35C1 and 35C2 housed. The glass bulb 30C1 is formed of umber glass, and the red coating film 38 is formed of a thin film (1-5μm). White light emission of the filaments 35C1 and 35C2 becomes light taking on an umber color by passing through the umber glass bulb 30C1, and taking on a red color by passing through the red coating film 38, but it takes on the umber color close to a red color before entering the red coating film 38, so that transmitted light has desired red chroma by making the film thickness of the red coating film 38 thin. The amount of the transmitted light is increased by the thinned portion of the red coating film 38 to provide desired luminous flux, and transparency of a red glass bulb 30C of the bulb 16C is increased.
