A printing device (1) has a housing (2) holding an ink-jet print-head for printing data filed electronically in an internal store on to a print area and which is movable relative to this print area in the print direction. The ink-jet print head is arranged fixed or non-adjustable relative to its housing (2) and the housing has a grip area (4) for manual holding by the user and is freely movable at least in the print direction.
