1,016,924. Packaging-machines. FR. HESSE, MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. April 1, 1963 [May 2, 1962], No. 12741/63. Heading B8C. A machine for producing tightly filled packages comprises apparatus of the kind for forming a web into a tube and sealing and severing the latter transversely to enclose increments of contents, a shoot through which the packages so produced fall on to means for making the package flat-bottomed and compacting the material therein and a closing device. A web 1 of heat-sealable material is drawn over a mandrel 3 and filled therethrough, and the heat-sealing jaws 6 are vertically reciprocable to draw the tube 4 downwards. The jaws 6 carry two sealing elements 7, 9, the latter being interrupted so that the top seals of the packages are incomplete. Fingers 12 provide side folds 11 in the packages. Each package is separated from the tube by a cutter 13 and falls through a shoot 14 on to a part of a conveyer belt 15 which is supported by a vibratory plate 16 so that a flat-bottom is formed in the bag and the material therein is compacted, excess air escaping through the incomplete top seal. The conveyer belt then carries each package between conveyers 17, 18 with flights 19, 20 so spaced as to trap the bags therebetween and square them up. The packages pass between belts 22, 23 which flatten the neck and a deflector 24 which turns over the mouth. Finally the package is sealed between heat sealing and cooling means 27, 28. The bags may pass through known air evacuating means (not shown). |
