PIPE CONNECTION FITTING AND CONNECTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection fitting and a connecting method for minimizing affection of falling earth and sand in a vertical shaft with a vertical pipe arranged therein when the vertical pipe is connected to a horizontal pipe arranged in a horizontal shaft.

SOLUTION: The connection fitting (10) includes an attachment portion (26) for attaching the fitting to the vertical pipe (14) and two parallel projections (28) continuing to the attachment portion. The projections extend above a spigot (24) and parallel to an axis of the spigot in a virtual cylindrical plane which has an outer diameter of the horizontal pipe (12) or a diameter nearly equal to it and is coaxial with the spigot, and project from a front end of the spigot. Connection of the pipes is performed by lowering the vertical pipe with the connection fitting attached thereto until both the projections are placed on a top of a socket, by turning the spigot to the socket through operation of the vertical pipe at the ground surface and by then moving the horizontal vessel toward the vertical pipe.
