PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope which has good operability capable of quickly changing over the magnification of the microscope. SOLUTION: An intermediate variable magnification lens 73 is arranged between an arm part 30 and an objective lens 61, and is constituted so as to be changed over with respect to an observation optical axis L. The changeover of the intermediate variable magnification lens is carried out by using an actuator 76. A switch part SW for operating the actuator can be located at an optional position near an inspector at hand. Thus, it becomes unnecessary for the operator to raise the hand(s) for operation, and the operability of the microscope is improved. An iris diaphragm 74 is provided between the intermediate variable magnification lens 73 and the objective lens 61, thereby preventing an observation image from deteriorating.
