The oil sump (1) has an oil extraction pipe (2) provided with a free end (2a) depending into the oil sump and fitted with an extension pipe (3) which is rotated about an axis (4) such that the free end (3a) of the extension pipe rotates in a given plane (11') above the base (1a) of the oil sump. The centre of gravity of the extension pipe is spaced from its rotation axis. An independent claim for an internal combustion engine provided with an oil sump is also included.
