PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting method and its instrument with which in a twin-roll type strip continuous casting apparatus for producing a thin-plate-like cast strip, the defective shape of the cast strip with a hot-line can surely be detected. SOLUTION: In the twin-roll type continuous casting facility for producing the thin-plate-like cast strip, the generation of the hot-line can quickly and surely be detected by judging whether or not the increasing rate of rolling speed and increasing term during operating exist in a hot-line generating range on a map for mapping relation of the increasing rate of rolling speed and the increasing term, or by judging whether or not an inequality using the increasing rate of the rolling speed and the increasing term during operating as the variable, is satisfied.
