<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve responsiveness when an electric brake device starts braking operation. <P>SOLUTION: An electronic control unit decides a start of braking operation on the basis of ON signal of a brake pedal switch, return operation of an acceleration pedal and detection of an obstacle by a radar device. First, an electric motor M is driven, and after the number of revolution of the electric motor M sufficiently rises, resisting inertia of a rotor, a band brake device B is operated to restrict a ring gear 33 of a planetary gear mechanism P to transmit driving force of the electric motor M to a brake piston 15 through the planetary gear mechanism P and a ball screw mechanism S, and brake pads 14a and 14b abut on a brake disk 13 to generate braking force. Since the band brake device B is operated in the condition wherein the electric motor M is previously driven, responsiveness when the electric brake device starts braking operation can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
