PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the safeness and usableness of a grill cooker that permits the confirmation of the cooked condition of a cooked thing in the grill from an observation window provided on the top face thereof. SOLUTION: When an ignition operation is made, when the observation window is mounted (S3: YES), a magnetic valve provided in a combustion gas passage is kept open (S4) and combustion is started. And when the observation window is not provided (S3:NO), a buzzer provided on the front of the cooker is sounded for 10 seconds (S10) and a combustion action is prohibited. Consequently, smoke or combustion exhaust air in the grill does not flow out from a grill opening formed on the top face of the grill cooker, the fall in heat efficiency in the grill and a cook's burn due to combustion exhaust air can be prevented.
