<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for coping with adaptation to circumstances even when kinds of the image forming apparatuses are numerous. <P>SOLUTION: The side of a development machine is provided with a fourth contact member 127 and a fifth contact member 128 comprising a metal wire, and a fuse member 134 is provided to be electrically connected between both the contact members. A case that the fourth contact member 127 is set long up to an insertion hole 130, and another case that it is set short up to an insertion hole 131, exist. At the side of the apparatus body, terminals 135a-135c are provided, and conduction between the terminals 135a and 135b can be determined by length of the fourth contact member 127. An existence detection signal of the conduction is used as data indicating compatibility between the apparatus body and the development machine by the machine kind, and the development machine is discriminated on whether it is initially mounted or prepared as supplied to other machine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
