<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restore the states of main storage, CPU and a peripheral device while maintaining consistency between them even if the system faces sudden power supply shutdown on the premise that a main storage is non-volatile. <P>SOLUTION: The computer system is composed of elements such as: a kernel (OS) 210; device drivers 220, 230 and 240 which correspond to respective peripheral devices 142 to 144 and serve as the interfaces between the kernel and the devices; and application programs 262, 264 and 266 executed on the OS210 in a user level. By considering that the device drivers 220, 230 and 240 are the elements where dependence on the devices 142, 143 and 144 occurs, consistency is maintained between the individual devices and the device drivers.
