Process for the preparation of di- and polyamines of the diphenyl methane series

Production of di- and poly-amines of the diphenylmethane series comprises (a) catalytically converting nitrobenzene and methanol to aniline and formaldehyde; and then (b) converting the aniline and formaldehyde to the required di- and poly-amines in presence of an acid catalyst. An independent claim is also claimed for the above process with the additional step of phosgenating the di- and poly-amines to give di- and poly-isocyanates of the diphenylmethane series.
