PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic toner which has environmentally hardly affected and stable electrostatic charge performance, has high image density in spite of long-term use, is suppressed in the occurrence of fogging and has excellent image reproducibility. SOLUTION: The toner containing at least a binder resin and iron oxide is characterized by that (I), when the diameter of the equivalent projected area of the toner is defined as C, the toner satisfying the structure of the iron oxide existing at≥70number% down to a depth of 0.2 times the diameter of the equivalent projected area C from the surface of the toner is≥40number% in the cross section observation of the toner using a transmission electron microscope (TEM) and (II) the iron oxide is treated with a low softening point material.
