PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the voltage between a photoelectric conversion device and a floating diffusion region cannot sufficiently be secured when the power supply voltage of a device is reduced for saving power consumption and as a result the amount of saturated electric charges Qs is reduced because signal electric charges photoelectrically converted by the photoelectric conversion device and stored therein cannot completely be read. SOLUTION: The amount of the saturated electric charges Qs is increased by changing the power supply voltage AVD of a pixel 20 byΔV to the positive side for a read period of the signal electric charges by a read transistor 22 so as to make the voltage between a photodiode 21 and the floating diffusion region FD larger than the voltage between the photodiode 21 and the floating diffusion region FD in a reset state.
