AIR BAG PROVIDED WITH IMPACT CUSHIONING MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To significantly enhance the impact absorption performance of an air bag to keep passenger faces from injury by disposing a silicone based gelatinated material with the degree of penetration 50 to 250 on an appropriate portion of the upper surface of the air bag. CONSTITUTION:A silicone based gelatinated material 1 with the degree of penetration of 50 to 250 is stuck to an appropriate portion of the upper surface of an air bag against which the face of a passenger is likely to collide when the air bag is unifolded, while the material 1 is covered by an outer cover layer of polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride or a sheet comprising cloth laminated with films of those materials. The gelatinated material 1 may wholly be wrapped with a single outer cover layer or a number of materials 1 each wrapped with a small outer cover layer of proper size may be aligned. Alternatively, the gelatinated material 1 may be divided into many parts at the fold of the air bag so that the gelatinated material 1 is not folded at the fold formed when the air bag is folded.
