PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress density unevenness of an image by suppressing variation in abutting pressure between a developer carrier and a developer restricting member. SOLUTION: In a developing unit equipped with the developer carrier 4 which carries a developer carried on its surface onto the image carrier 1 to visualize a latent image on the image carrier 1 and a developer restricting member 6 which restricts the thickness of the developer carried on the developer carrier 4, the developer carrier 4 and developer restricting member 6 are made to abut against each other by two or more pressure imparting members 12-2 which have different spring constant.
