METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MAKING SELF-STANDING SQUARE BOTTOM BAG

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a process for manufacturing a self-standing square bottom bag and constitution. SOLUTION: Both superposed edge parts of a transferred strip-like film are sealed by a longitudinal sealer 28 to form an almost flat continuous cylindrical film. The films of both lateral parts of the continuous cylindrical film are inwardly tucked in and also folded into a generally flat shape to obtain a continuous flat tubular film 12b. Transverse sealed parts are formed to the continuous flat film 12b by a transverse sealer 52 and the vicinity of the edge part on the upstream side of the transverse sealed part of the head part of the continuous flat film 12b is heated and softened by a second creasing device 68 to impart a folding habit to the continuous flat film 12b. The continuous flat film 12b is cut by a cutter 62 after forming the crease to separate a flat bag. This flat bag is held by folding-back rollers and transferred to fold back the transverse sealed part along the crease. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
