<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of an image forming apparatus and prevent the adverse effects on components due to heat, especially, ones that are weak against heat. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes a paper feed tray 6; a processing cartridge C having the components which are weak against heat; a partition wall 65 which is disposed between the processing cartridge C and the tray 6 and divides the interior of the body of the apparatus into a shielded space Sp and an open space St communicating with outside air; a transfer roller 9 which transfers a developed image onto paper P; a fixing unit F which heats the paper with the developed image transferred thereon by the transfer roller 9, thereby fixing the developed image; and a transport path which guides the paper P, from the tray 6 to the fixing unit F via the transfer roller 9. The partition wall 65 has vent holes 65a. The vent holes 65a are provided with a fan 70 for making the outside air pass from the open space St to the shielded space Sp through the holes 65.
