PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently collecting DNA originating from microorganisms occurring in environment. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for extracting DNA originating from microorganisms distributing in environment and the extraction method comprises the following two steps: the bacteriolysis step where the microorganisms included in the specimen that is collected from environment are crushed and the protein addition step where a protein that suppresses the DNA extraction inhibitory action of the DNA extraction inhibitory substance included in the specimen.
