PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic random access memory in which information can be written with a small writing current. SOLUTION: A magnetic film or multilayered magnetic film locally has a portion which is relatively easily inverted in magnetization as compared with the other portion. A mechanism for inverting the magnetization of the magnetic film has an impressing projection which impresses a relatively strong magnetic field as compared with the magnetic fields impressed upon other parts upon part of the magnetic film. The magnetic random access memory uses a magnetoresistive effect film composed of a multilayered magnetic film as a memory element or the mechanism for inverting the magnetization as an information writing means.
