PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metabolism and excretion promoter capable of promptly promoting in a short period the metabolism and excretion of organohalogen-based compounds accumulated on biological tissues including liver and fat tissue. SOLUTION: The metabolism and excretion promoter for organohalogen-based compounds is a pharmaceutical preparation containing as the active ingredient a compound having thyroid hormone-like activity such as a thyroid hormone like 3,5,3'-triiodothyroxine(T3) or thyroxine(T4) or thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH). This pharmaceutical preparation enables promoting in a short period of the metabolism and secretion of organohalogen-based compounds such as dioxins accumulated in human body, efficiently and promptly promoting the metabolism in the liver and secretion to urine of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin(TCDD) having the highest toxicity among dioxins among others.
