PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a high quality three-dimensional image by reducing the number of three-dimensional forms attached together and mapping higher resolution texture images. SOLUTION: A three-dimensional image generation apparatus has a light projection part 102 for projecting two-dimensional pattern light on a solid, and an imaging part 100 for picking up a three-dimensional image of the solid 103, in which the light projection part 102 has a part for selecting light projection or light extinction; and maps a texture image picked up by the imaging part 100 to the image of the solid 103 picked up to generate a three-dimensional image. The imaging part 100 has magnification changing means for changing an image magnification. When the selection part selects light projection, the imaging is at a smaller magnification, and when the selection part selects light extinction, the imaging is at a larger magnification.
