The door assembly has one or more recesses (8) in a door panel (6) or door frame (2) containing a light-permeable body (10) and fixings (16). A second recess (14) adjoins the first recess and has a smaller depth. A first light-permeable panel (12) of the light-permeable body has a first section (12b) extending over a section of the first recess and a second section (12a) extending over a section of the second recess and the fixings are design to fix the second section of the first panel in the second recess. The depth of the second recess is measured so that the outside surface of the first panel fits flush against the surface of the section of the door assembly. The fixing means can be adhesive.
