<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which is simple and can improve display quality without causing a pseudo contour in a display image, and to provide an image display apparatus equipped with the same. <P>SOLUTION: Provided are a 1st signal processing circuit 16 which applies a prescribed arithmetic operation to an (n)-bit (n: a natural number) digital signal inputted as a video signal to convert the (n)-bit digital signal into an (m)-bit (m: a natural number, m>n) digital signal and a 2nd signal processing circuit 17 which adds a noise signal for reducing a pseudo contour to the (m)-bit digital signal from the 1st signal processing circuit 16 and then outputs a Q-bit digital signal obtained by rounding off a less significant (m-Q) bits (Q: a natural number, Q≤n) from the (m)-bit digital signal, to a display part 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
