PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aromatic polycarbonate, improved in the total efficiency and reduced in environmental burden by returning the distillation residues in the process of producing diphenyl carbonate and the distillation residues in the process of producing the final aromatic polycarbonate to specific sites in the respective processes for producing the aromatic polycarbonate. SOLUTION: The method for producing the aromatic polycarbonate comprises the process of producing diphenyl carbonate, the process of producing bisphenol A, and the process of producing the final aromatic polycarbonate. In this method, the distillation residues produced in the distillation step in the final aromatic polycarbonate production process are fed to the distillation step in the diphenyl carbonate production process, subsequently the distillation residues produced in the distillation step in the diphenyl carbonate production process are fed to the mother liquor treatment step in the bisphenol A production process.
