<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene arranged to express a reporter protein in a way dependent on endoplasmic reticulum stress, a recombinant expression vector including the gene, a transformant transformed by the expression vector, a method for screening a medical agent inhibiting or activating the endoplasmic reticulum stress response by using the transformant, and to provide a transgenic organism obtained by transducing the gene. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to the gene expressing the reporter protein dependent on endoplasmic reticulum stress, containing a base sequence encoding a fusion gene comprising a gene receiving a frame-switch type splicing dependent on the endoplasmic reticulum stress and a gene of a reporter protein, wherein the sequence has one or more bases deleted, substituted or inserted. The invention also relates to the recombinant expression vector including the gene and the target gene to be expressed. The transformant transformed by the expression vector.
