PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish rules of effectiveness determination of a explanatory variable used in a correlation analysis having a response variable, and find a procedure for effectiveness determination according to the defined rules, and an index used therein. SOLUTION: A data analysis apparatus for explanatory variable effectiveness verification comprises cross-tabulating means, correlation rule extracting means and effectiveness explanatory variable determining means. The cross-tabulating means measure the influence of each individual explanatory variable on a response variable. The correlation rule extracting means use a plurality of explanatory variables simultaneously to extract correlation rules with respect to the response variable. The significant explanatory variable determining means determine explanatory variables having a great influence as an individual explanatory variable and forming the correlation rules to be significant.
