PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binding device which can automate the fitting of a ring binder. SOLUTION: In the binding device 1, a binding mechanism part 5 is equipped with upper/lower pushers which ascend/descend symmetrically and a binder traversing mechanism 7 for laterally sliding a front row binder inside a binder cartridge 51. The binder cartridge 51 can internally accommodate many split ring-type binders connected to each other in parallel by a fitting mechanism comprising pins and grooves and has rectangular crank-shaped guide grooves 55 formed at a forward end gate part 54. The frontmost row binders are moved laterally along the crank-shaped guide grooves 55 by the binder traversing mechanism 7 and separated from the other binder. Further, the upper/lower paired pushers of the binding mechanism part 5 nip a split ring part from above and below, then insert the split ring part into the punched holes of paper and fit the upper/lower tip parts of the split ring part together.
