PURPOSE: A method for masking noise and a device thereof are provided to shield noise by collecting and analyzing noise in traveling a vehicle, sorting the frequency band of noise over the reference value and increasing the volume corresponding to the sorted frequency band. CONSTITUTION: A driver turns on a switch to select the noise masking function in turning on an audio system while traveling a vehicle(S10,S20). A noise masking apparatus collects surrounding noise by a noise collecting unit such as an indoor microphone(S30). The collected noise is Fourier-converted by a frequency analyzer, and sorted according to the frequency band(S40). A control unit sorts the frequency band of noise over the reference frequency band(S50), and amplifies sound corresponding to the frequency band by transmitting the signal to the audio system(S60). Noise is masked by increasing the volume of the audio system over noise within the sorted frequency band of noise.
