PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the problem that an easy method has been provided for giving a fixed level like a black level to a peripheral area other than image areas of an image including nonsquare image areas. SOLUTION: An image processor has a transformation processing part 2B, a discrimination processing part 2A for generating a control signal SC showing whether each pixel data after transformation processing belongs to an effective picture or not, a signal processing part 2C subjecting the image after transformation processing to signal processing such as gain adjustment, and a substitution control part 2D. The substitution control part 2D successively inputs pixel data after signal processing and repeats such control of passage and substitution for individual pixels that pixel data in the effective screen is made to pass through and pixel data outside the effective picture is substituted with data of a fixed level and is outputted.
