A mass spectrometerÄ100Ü having an ion acceleratorÄ12Ü, an ion detectorÄ14Ü, and a finite impulse response filterÄ101Ü is disclosed. The ion acceleratorÄ12Ü generates an ion pulse in response to a start signal. A clockÄ17Ü increments a registerÄ18Ü that indicates the time that has elapsed since the start signal. The ion detectorÄ14Ü is spatially separated from the ion acceleratorÄ12Ü and generates a measurement signal indicative of ions striking the detector. The measurement signal is filtered through a finite impulse response filterÄ101Ü to form a filtered measurement signal. The finite impulse response filterÄ101Ü has a filter function that depends on the impulse response of the ion detectorÄ14Ü. In one embodiment, the mass spectrometer includes a memoryÄ19Ü that is addressed by the value in registerÄ18Ü and an adderÄ16Ü. The adderÄ16Ü forms the sum of the data value specified by the register value and the output value from the finite impulse response filterÄ101Ü. <IMAGE> |
