PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple measurement tool for the infiltrating volume and swelling volume of a bentonite material, its measurement method, and a simple measurement method for the infiltrating speed and swelling rate of the bentonite material by using the measure, in order to rapidly, simply and inexpensively measure the infiltrating speed expressing the water cut-off characteristic and the swelling rate expressing the swelling characteristic of the bentonite material used for processing/disposing radioactive wastes, etc. SOLUTION: This simple measure for the infiltrating volume and swelling volume of a bentonite material for calculating the infiltrating volume and swelling volume of the bentonite material, is equipped with a container 8 into which the bentonite material being a measuring object is thrown as a specimen 7 and a weight 9 for loading the thrown-in specimen 7. In this simple measurement tool for the infiltrating volume and swelling volume of a bentonite material, the container 8 into which the specimen 7 is thrown in serves as a volumeter capable of measuring a swelling volumeΔV<SB>a</SB>and an infiltrating volumeΔV<SB>b</SB>at t<SB>n</SB>after a prescribed time period elapses by infiltrating water, etc. into the specimen 7 with the specimen 7 loaded with the weight 9.
