<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device having an optical filter which can improve contrast and strength. <P>SOLUTION: The front face of the display device which emits a linearly polarized light is provided with the optical filter constituted of a linear polarization plate and an optical member. The polarized light component of the external light orthogonal with the transmission axis of the linear polarization plate is thereby absorbed without reducing the exit light from the display device emitting the linearly polarized light which is the polarized light direction parallel to the transmission axis of the linear polarization plate. The reflected light from the display device which emits the linearly polarized light is thus reduced as compared with the case the display device is not provided with the optical member, by which the contrast of the display device can be improved and the strength of the display device can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
