摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a solid-state imaging device and an imaging apparatus which can obtain an imaging signal suitable for an autofocus control under conditions with less incident light amount, without prolonging charge accumulating time. SOLUTION: Upon autofocus control, a solid-state imaging device is subjected to thinning of the number of horizontal lines reading image signals and is driven by a driving mode in which the charge of every 6 lines in a vertical direction each pixel of a plurality of horizontal lines set as a reading object of the image signal is added, to read an image signal for a single line, and a dynamic range of luminance information included in the image signal for a single line read from the solid-state imaging device is enlarged. Also, the line number for pixel addition is made 2 lines if an object luminance reaches a predetermined luminance level, and it is made 6 lines if it is equal to or less than the predetermined luminance level, thereby enabling handling of an object luminance of a wider range.
