PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the performance of a system by improving the floating power properties, in a superconductive magnetic gradient floating system which is applied to a carrier system for shifting a float along a rail. SOLUTION: Superconductive coils 2 in the shape of race tracks are counterposed right and the left, and each superconductive coil 2 is composed of an upper straight part 2a and a lower straight part 2b arranged in parallel above and below and ends 2c for connecting both the fellow ends of those upper and lower straight parts 2a and 2b with each other. Magnetic shields 3 are counterposed between the upper straight parts 2a of the right and left superconductive coils 2, and a ferromagnetic rail 1 is arranged between the counterposed magnetic shields 3, but magnetic shields 3 do not exist between the lower straight parts 2b, and also a ferromagnetic rail 1 does not exist, either. Accordingly, attraction between the end 2c of the superconductive coil 2 and the ferromagnetic rail 1 can be utilized effectively as floating power. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
