A shredder assembly processes cellular material and recycled paper for re-use. The assembly has a sieve (18) operating in conjunction with a rotor (22) with arms (22a) supported by a main frame. The main frame especially is of rectangular cross section. Both the sieve and the rotor arm have hard metal (44) cutting edges (38b). The rotor arm is detachable from the frame. Both the hard metal components (44) on the sides directed against the rotation, and the hard metal surfaces on the sieve, form a one-piece structure with the frame. Also claimed is a commensurate shredding tool. In a further embodiment, those faces directed against the direction of rotation have a number of hard metal elements that meet the requirements of different rotor shapes. The same kind of hard metal is used on both sides of the supporting frame.
