PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for indexing an embossing punch, by which a metal plate to be worked with a die is embossed, and which can surely conduct the selective pressing of the embossing punch, and at the same time, which can conduct the selective pressing without requiring a special drive source. SOLUTION: The device for indexing the embossing punch is mounted to an upper die of a die composed of a lower die 2 and the upper die 3, supporting a retainer 5 and capable of changing the position of the embossing punch 6 mounted to the retainer. A rotor 14 is horizontally rotated via a rotation converting means for converting the relative and vertical movement generated by the vertical movement of the upper die to the horizontal rotation to rotate a mount disk 15 only in one direction via a one-way rotation clutch, and the retainer 5 is horizontally rotated by a desired angle by the mount disk to change the position of the embossing punch 6.
