SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY PERFORMING CONFIGURATION FOR INSTALLATION OF NETWORK PRINTER

PURPOSE: A system and a method for automatically performing configuration for installation of a network printer are provided to remove burden for the configuration through manual operations from a user and a system manager. CONSTITUTION: A both-way application program interface makes a driver(30) generate a both-way request/reply by connecting to a spooler(60). Syntax in a printer explanation file(40) represents the both-way request/reply and associates it with a print feature. An extension file is stored in the driver, and associates a both-way value with a printer value. A notification infrastructure is controlled by a port monitor(70), and offers both-way notification for a configuration change to the driver and a selected application(10).
