PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new transition metal compound, to provide an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising the same, and to provide an olefin polymer produced using the catalyst. SOLUTION: The transition metal compound is represented by general formula(I)[ wherein, M is a group 3-11 transition metal atom; m is an integer of 1-6; E is a (heteroatom-containing) five- or six-membered cyclic hydrocarbon residue; A is C(R<SB>2</SB>)(R<SB>3</SB>), Si(R<SB>10</SB>)(R<SB>11</SB>), P(O)(R<SB>12</SB>), P(R<SB>13</SB>) or the like; R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>, R<SB>3</SB>, R<SB>10</SB>to R<SB>13</SB>are each H, a halogen atom, hydrocarbon residue or the like ].
