The ornamental fountain (1) has a base (2) with a trough-form recess (4), a top (3) with a section (5) at least partially fitting in the recess and with at least one pipe (6) for the guiding of water under pressure into the region of the recess in the gap between the base and the top. The top is cylindrical in construction and on the underside the aforesaid section which is axially symmetrical to the cylinder axis conforms to the depth of the base. The base and/or the top is circular cylindrical in construction.
