PURPOSE: An electric rice cooker having the function of internal timer interrupt period variation and a control method thereof are provided to reduce the time for testing by deciding the defect in a short time by varying the interrupt period of an internal timer and to improve the reliability of an electric cooker by promptly solving a defect problem. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer(200) counts a predicted defect generating time by varying the interrupt period of one of many internal timers(201) and outputs a control signal by deciding the occurrence of a defect. A display unit(300) informs a manufacturer of the occurrence of a defect corresponding to the control signal of the microcomputer. A load drive unit(400) outputs a driving signal to each load corresponding to the control signal of the microcomputer.
