PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an organic compound, by which the organic compound can be produced from a viscous organic compound and a liquid reaction reagent in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for reacting the viscous organic compound, comprising reacting the viscous organic compound with the liquid reaction reagent in a reaction vessel having a retreated blade as a stirring blade, is characterized in that a stirring power per unit volume calculated from the expression : N<SB>p</SB>×ρ×n<SP>3</SP>×d<SP>5</SP>/V [N<SB>p</SB>is power number (dimensionless); (ρ) is the density (kg/m<SP>3</SP>) of the liquid reaction reagent, (n) is the number (sec<SP>-1</SP>) of revolution of the stirring blade; (d) is the diameter (m) of the stirring blade; V is the volume (m<SP>3</SP>) of the liquid reaction reagent] is≥3×10<SP>2</SP>W/m<SP>3</SP>and a C/D [C is a distance between the stirring blade and the bottom of the reaction vessel; D is the inner diameter (m) of the reaction vessel] value calculated from C/D is≤0.06. The other method for reacting the viscous organic compound, comprising reacting the viscous organic compound with the liquid reaction reagent in a reaction vessel having an anchor blade as a stirring blade, is characterized in that a stirring power per unit volume is≥1×10<SP>2</SP>W/m<SP>3</SP>and C/D value is≤0.1.
