PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular drive device which can reduce the driving load during traveling and can secure durability. SOLUTION: The vehicular drive device is provided with a transmission 2, which changes the speed in a multi-stage manner by switching the shift gears by receiving the power from an engine and which outputs to a driving system, a clutch 1, which can fasten and release the power transmitted from the engine to the transmission 2, an assist means 3 for selectively adding driving torque to the driving system (40A, 40B, and 41) on the downstream side from the shift gears of the transmission 2, and control means (TCU, MCU) which operate the assist means 3 by releasing the clutch 1 and/or the return of the shift gears to the neutral when the shift gears of the transmission 2 are switched and which stops the operation of the assist means 3 after the switching of the shift gears and/or the fastening of the clutch 1.
