The invention relates to a profile element which can be flexibly connected t o other adjacent profile elements in order to form a roller blind. Said profil e element comprises a front side and a rear side which are arranged at a distance form each other and at least one cavity is arranged therebetween, wherein an opening made therein leads into the front wall thereof and a soun d- absorbing material is arranged therein. The aim of the invention is to impro ve the profile element in the above-mentioned manner, especially with respect t o the sound-insulating properties thereof. The inventive profile element can b e produced by virtue of the fact that the sound-absorbing material part consis ts of at least one sound reduction element which can be displaced at least in t he region of the opening in order to open towards and away from the path thereo f.
