PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state imaging device which is enabled to increase the manageable signal charges by enlarging the photoelectric conversion region of a light receiver under the circumstances where unit cells are made smaller, and to provide a method for manufacturing the solid-state imaging device. SOLUTION: A protrusion 15 consisting of impurities of the same conductivity as those in an n-type region 13, an original photoelectric conversion region, is formed on the surface of a substrate so as to be continuous from the n-type region 13, whereby the volume of a region contributing to photoelectric conversion can be increased by the volume of the protrusion 15.
