PURPOSE: A method for searching a motion vector is provided to obtain a motion vector of the best 1/2 unit pixel from searched motion vectors having constant units, and to search a portion only of 1/4 pixels when searching motion vectors of the 1/4 unit pixels, thereby remarkably reducing calculations. CONSTITUTION: A device searches motion vectors in constant unit pixels, and determines the motion vectors. The device searches motion vectors for 1/2 unit pixels around a reference constant unit pixel, which correspond to the determined motion vectors, and determines the searched motion vectors. The device searches a motion vector for a portion only of 1/4 unit pixels existing between the reference constant unit pixels and the reference 1/2 unit pixels, and determines the searched motion vector. |
