PURPOSE: A method for preparing a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery and a lithium transition metal phosphate positive electrode active material having an Olivine structure prepared by the method are provided, to improve electrochemical properties and to reduce a manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of dissolving LiX (wherein X is Br or I) as a lithium source in a nonpolar solvent; adding a phosphorus source and a transition metal source to the obtained solution and mixing them; and heating the mixture under nitrogen atmosphere. Preferably the nonpolar solvent is selected from the group consisting of hexane, CH3CN and their mixture; and the heating is carried out at a temperature of 600-700 deg.C. |
