PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent composition capable of giving a moist feeling to skin, without making the skin feel tight, when used in washing the skin, and capable of making hair smoothly passed through by fingers with a soft feeling, when used in washing the hair. SOLUTION: This detergent composition contains (A) a surfactant, (B) an amino acid or an amphoteric polymer and (C) water, wherein the composition has a pH not more than an isoelectric point of the component (B), when the pH is measured after the composition is diluted with purified water to have a concentration of 5 wt%, or after the composition is diluted with water to be used.
